Leiva’s Coffee is a Little Rock, Arkansas based coffee company who is committed to changing the coffee industry, all the way from the berry right to your cup.

Geovanni (Geo) Leiva is a fourth generation coffee farmer from Guatemala who now resides in Little Rock and runs his family’s coffee business from the area. Tradition runs deep in the Leiva family business, and Geo is committed to not only providing the most flavorful small batch cup of coffee to the consumer, but also to elevating the community of his childhood in Guatemala, as well as other small coffee farmers there.

TELL US ABOUT LEIVA’S COFFEE… WHAT MAKES YOU SO PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?

We are a coffee company committed to changing the coffee industry one coffee bean at a time. We do this by implementing the Leiva’s S3 model: sustainability, security and service. My passion is to share the best coffees from the world especially from families just like mine. There are several families like the Leiva’s that are simply looking for an opportunity to share their coffee and break out of poverty.

TALK A BIT ABOUT WHAT MAKES LEIVA’S COFFEE SO UNIQUE AND WHY YOU BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE THE COFFEE OF CHOICE FOR THE COFFEE LOVERS READING THIS.

Our coffee is single origin, organically-grown and hand roasted locally in my hometown of Little Rock, AR. It ‘s all grown and processed by the Leiva Family. It is honey and water processed at our farm in Guatemala and sun-dried just like my grandfather did it. It is small-batched and roasted in Little Rock daily to assure freshness when delivered to your door. Because of the soil on our farm, the processing, the generational growing methods and skilled roasting methods our coffee is very low acidity, but our coffee is super flavorful and cup finish is outstanding. We are currently expanding to include other coffees besides Guatamalan coffees so we can offer multiple blends. We believe it’s the best direct-trade, single origin coffee available.

LEIVA’S IS GROWING RAPIDLY. WHAT IS CHANGING FOR YOU GUYS RIGHT NOW, TALK TO US ABOUT ALL THE GROWTH AND EXPANSION THAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH?

The past few months have been incredible! We have had our best summer yet. Last summer we introduced our Nitro Cold Brew, it’s a cold brew coffee infused with nitrogen. The result is this amazing cold, creamy coffee and we took it next level by mixing it with blueberries as well as basil to create cocktail like drinks while still getting your caffeine. We also have a dark chocolate stout to name another unique Leiva creation. For now, Nexus (located in Little Rock, Arkansas) is the only place these specialty drinks can be enjoyed but we are looking forward to sharing these with many other people around town and even around the country soon. Our online business has shown spectacular growth and we now proudly ship coffee to France, Korea, Kuwait and Germany. It has been a huge joy to share our family’s coffee with many other families around the globe.

YOU ARE AN AVID CROSSFITTER…TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL HEALTH JOURNEY.

My journey started about four years ago when I realized I’d gained a lot of weight and needed to do something about it. I set a personal goal to be in the best shape of my life by the age of 40. My wife encouraged me try CrossFit and I have loved it since the first day. I have enjoyed challenging my body, I changed my diet and I can say with confidence that I am a better version of me today and should be by the time my birthday comes next year. 

HOW DO YOU TAKE YOUR MORNING CUP?

Black no sugar BUT in order to drink and enjoy black coffee, you must start with amazing, freshly roasted beans and also place importance in using pure, filtered water. This how I recommend drinking black coffee and enjoying it to the very last drop.

WHERE DO YOU THINK RESPONSIBLE CAFFEINE CONSUMPTION FITS INTO A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE?

I think drinking caffeine is key to a healthy lifestyle. It helps with blood flow, and there are so many benefits for the heart and several other I could list. But I also recommend that consumers get familiar with all of the other benefits caffeine provides. I think pre workout beverages have so many unnecessary ingredients and the caffeine source is often unreliable and sometimes unsafe. So for the purest form of caffeine, I recommend a cup of coffee or espresso shot in the fall/winter and for spring/summer there is nothing like a refreshing nitro coffee or a cold brew. We have blends specially created for cold brew and we also sell our concentrated cold brew by the gallon. 

WHAT IS THE MOTTO YOU ARE LIVING BY RIGHT NOW?

The only true way for you to predict the future is to create it! I have been living by this belief for a few months and have seen some really cool things happening. I can’t wait to see tomorrow but I make sure to enjoy today.
