Healthy Lifestyle Choices Without The Overwhelm

by | Mar 3, 2020 | Health Tips, Mind + Body, Wellness | 0 comments

I know that making healthy lifestyle choices can feel hard, intimidating and overwhelming.

We’re constantly reminded that we need to eat healthier,  meal plan, cook more and meal prep foods every week. One day we’re told to eat more meat and less carbs, and the next day we’re told to stop eating meat altogether and focus on fats and carbs only, or that we should only be eating fruit until 3:00pm every day (or some other nonsense that someone has made up that day).

And then there’s all the information around how we need to exercise most days, sleep 7 to 8 hours a night and take breaks to deep breathe a few times throughout the day.

I mean, how could we not be overwhelmed when we’re bombarded with all this, every day?

Is our dieting obsession making it worse?

Listen, every single one of us is busy. It’s an overwhelming world we live in, without all the dieting talk. And that’s why I believe it’s so important not to overcomplicate health and wellness.

But it’s something I see women doing every single day.

And I have a theory around why women are so confused and overwhelmed with making healthy lifestyle choices. Are you ready for my truth bomb?

Our obsession with following fad diets and trends is causing this overwhelm. We’re doing it to ourselves and making our overwhelm worse.

Simplify healthy lifestyle choices to decrease overwhelm

Last week, I posted a video sharing my 4 tips for making healthy lifestyle choices without the overwhelm, and I thought I’d post it here too, because I feel like this is an important reminder for us all.

Keeping it simple

There will always be new trends and fads, that’s one thing you can count on. Many of us are quick to fall for the new diet trends because they promise quick and easy weight loss, and weight loss is what most people seem to be fixated on.

But what if we shifted our focus from strictly weight loss, to more wellness?

If we focused more on wellness and healthier habits as the way and weight loss as the wonderful side effect from more wellness, our #1 concern would then be the long-term changes, instead of the quick fixes and short-term results that most fad diets promise.

I love coaching women on how to shift their mindset away from fixating on dieting and weight loss and towards more wellness, because I believe wellness is the KEY to lasting weight loss and long-term health. And I want to share that with you.
