“I will be happy when…” can be a never ending cycle.
Which is why Women In Networking (WIN) of Central Arkansas founder Holly Fish decided it was time to create an event that focused on helping women learn how to get unstuck and actually create positive change in their lives.
A common recurring theme Holly was hearing from women at monthly WIN meetings was, “I just want to be happy but I feel stuck.” What most of these women didn’t realize was that so many other women feel this way at some point. And Holly says it’s important to know you aren’t alone.
So she created the three-part WIN MINDFit series of workshops, the first of which kicks off on Saturday, March 24th.
We caught up with Holly to find out more about the WIN MINDFit series of workshops…
WHO DID YOU CREATE THE WIN MINDFIT WORKSHOPS FOR? TELL US ABOUT THE WOMAN YOU HAD IN MIND.
At our monthly WIN meetings which take place during the lunch hour, we drill down the topics and discussion around being your best self in terms of confidence, but also in mind, body and soul, and overall health. And at the end of so many of these meetings, inevitably I’ll have a number of women come up to me and say, “I could have listened to that discussion for two more hours,” or, “I felt like you were talking to me!”
People tend to think of WIN as a career networking group. And it is, but we also address topics like confidence issues, and the stories that our minds tell us, stories that cause fear and tend to hold us back from who we potentially could be and what we potentially could do.
SO THE WIN MINDFIT WORKSHOP SERIES, AS WELL AS THE MONTHLY WIN MEETINGS, ARE GEARED TOWARDS ALL WOMEN, AND NOT JUST THOSE LOOKING TO MAKE CONNECTIONS IN BUSINESS?
Our goal with WIN is to help connect women, in whatever way they are looking to be connected. The WIN meetings are for stay at home moms, entrepreneurs, employees, women who are coming back into the career market or are looking for a job. No matter what you’re doing in your life, you can’t be your best self if you don’t feel good, mentally, physically and spiritually. You can’t accomplish whatever it is that you want to if you don’t look at all of those things.
WIN of Central Arkansas is really the first edgy women’s group of its kind in our area, and we’re addressing many topics which have been considered taboo. We are talking about real issues that women are dealing with daily. And the WIN MINDFit series was created so we can give tools to women that they can apply to their careers, and also to their lives in general.
HOW DOES THE WIN MINDFIT THREE-PART SERIES WORK?
We have three dates already set for the series: the first workshop takes place on Saturday, March 24th from 8:30am-1:30pm. The second workshop will be on June 9th, and the third will be on October 13th.
Each workshop is centered around a particular topic. On Saturday, March 24th, our topic is Finding the WILL for Change. Each speaker will share their own story around that topic and what they have done and are currently doing in their own lives to sustain real change.
Guests may sign up for each workshop date individually, if they can’t attend all three dates.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE GUESTS WILL LEAVE THE WORKSHOP WITH?
My intention is for every guest to leave the workshop on March 24th feeling recharged and more able to create new results for themselves if they are feeling stuck. I want them to leave feeling empowered, I want them to have more clarity about how other women have handled similar situations to what they are going through. I want guests to leave the workshop armed with information and the motivation to take their next step, whatever that may be. The mind is a powerful thing and it tells us these stories and we really do believe them. Every single one of us deals with this, and it likely comes from our childhood programming. There’s a lot of relearning that must take place within us. The most important thing to do for getting unstuck is to just start. I want people to leave these workshops ready to take action and to start.
WHAT’S THE MANTRA YOU’RE PERSONALLY LIVING BY RGHT NOW?
I started my year by choosing one word that I could stay focused on in all areas of my life. I chose a word that I could use whenever I needed it to help bring me back to my center, and that word is NOURISH. So in every aspect of my life, I can ask myself, “Where am I not nourishing?” When I feel anxiety or overwhelm, or a bit depressed, I’ll ask myself where am I not nourishing? It just brings me back into that place of awareness, and this has really been helpful for me.
WHEN YOU’RE FEELING STUCK IN YOUR OWN LIFE, WHAT’S ONE ACTION YOU TAKE THAT HELPS TO MOVE YOU FORWARD?
When I feel stuck, I’ll do something that’s not in my daily routine. I’ll intentionally push myself outside of my comfort zone. That might be taking a new workout class, going for a walk on a new path, reaching out to introduce myself to someone new or to invite them to coffee. I just do something that’s new in my world. It’s a really empowering shift, getting out of your comfort zone. The magic doesn’t happen within your comfort zone; it happens when you get outside of it.
LAST QUESTION: WHY DO YOU THINK IT’S SO IMPORTANT FOR WOMEN TO HAVE AN EMPOWERING COMMUNITY AROUND THEM?
This is something that I feel so passionately about. When you gather with a like-minded community, it lets you know that you’re not alone in this. We can tackle anything together. When you see you aren’t alone and you hear stories from other people and you identify with their stories, it inspires hope, it energizes you and it encourages you to think differently about your own situation. It empowers you. When she wins, you win.
