Fudge Brownie Protein Bites (Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free)

These fudge brownie protein bites are a healthy choice when you need a bite of something that's low glycemic, naturally sweetened and delicious. Made with whole ingredients like hazelnuts, dates, cacao, almond butter and with the addition of a little extra protein, you're going to love these healthy little bites of fudge brownie yumminess for an afternoon snack, post-workout, dessert or anytime.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 cup raw hazelnuts
  • 3 scoops vanilla or chocolate protein powder (I used Primal Kitchen Vanilla Coconut Collagen Fuel)
  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tablespoon warm water
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Add the dates, hazelnuts, protein powder, cacao powder, almond butter and vanilla to the bowl of a food processor and pulse all ingredients until they're well mixed.
  • Add the 1/2 tablespoon warm water to the food processor and pulse again a few more times until all the ingredients start to come together.
  • Add the chocolate chips to the mixture and use a spoon or your hands to mix them in with the other ingredients.
  • Using your hands, roll the mixture into uniform sized bites. Place them into the freezer for about 15 minutes or until they're set up well. Store the bites in a covered container in the refrigerator or freezer.
